Chicago Bears vs. Houston Texans

Sunday Night Football: Texans vs. Bears highlights, score, and stats

For the first time since 2016, the Houston Texans are 2-0.

In Houston's home opener for the regular season against the Chicago Bears, C.J. Stroud led the Texans to a 19–13 victory.

Stroud and wide receiver Nico Collins proved to be too much for the obstinate Bears squad to handle together. Stroud gained a touchdown and 260 throwing yards. Early on, Stroud identified his go-to wideout. Collins ended with eight receptions for a game-high 135 yards and one touchdown.

Stroud and Collins' valiant efforts were sufficient to give Houston the victory over Chicago.

With 34 seconds remaining, Caleb Williams' pass on fourth-and-17 went incomplete, costing the Bears a chance to win the game in their final draft.

The last chance for bears is sadly wasted.

With 1:37 remaining in the game and 80 yards remaining, the Bears recovered possession of the ball in an attempt to at least level the score and possibly take the lead with an extra point.

With a 27-yard pass from Caleb Williams to Rome Odunze, the drive got off to a bright start with the ball moving into midfield. The drive came to a stop there. The Bears were forced to retreat eight yards after a second down sack, which resulted in a fourth-and-17 scenario. The Texans managed to hold on for the victory despite Williams' last ball to Odunze being well off target. — Jim Reineking

Bears 13, Texans 19: Cairo Santos turns the game into a one-score affair.

Mario Edwards Jr.'s roughing-the-passer penalty set the Bears up for another long field goal.

With slightly less than three minutes left in the game, Cairo Santos scored the fifth field goal of 50 yards or more to tie the score.
