Tigers receive good news regarding Taskin.

The injury to pacer Taskin Ahmed had been a major discussion point prior to Bangladesh's T20 World Cup roster selection. Before he was eventually included, there was much speculation, but it was unclear if he would be available for Bangladesh's opening games.

In addition to being named in the squad for the current three-match T20I series against the USA, paceman Hasan Mahmud was also named as a backup in case Taskin was unable to recuperate. After an MRI scan on Thursday, which was meant to clear things up, the BCB medical department received encouraging news on Taskin's injuries.

He sustained an undisplaced fracture to the right side of his rib cage during the fourth Twenty20 International of the just ended Zimbabwe series.

"His progress is excellent and fulfilling. He is attending to the gym and going through the rehabilitation process. "We are going to start bowling later, and he is doing running sessions," BCB chief physician Dr. Debashish Chowdhury said over the phone to The Daily Star yesterday.

"We spoke with the doctor after receiving the MRI scan data, and we will adhere to regular procedure. He will gradually be introduced to bowling in accordance with protocol. We're hoping to get him available for the opening World Cup match," Debashish continued.

Additionally, the fracture has been healing; according to Debashish, it is "almost healed."

On June 8 in Dallas, Bangladesh will play their first World Cup matchup versus Sri Lanka.
