Shanto will be in charge of Bangladesh's T20 World Cup team.

Bangladesh's skipper for all formats, Najmul Hossain Shanto, was named earlier this year and is expected to captain his side in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024.

Following a convincing 4-1 victory over Zimbabwe in the recently concluded T20I home series, Bangladesh revealed their 15-man roster for the major event that takes place next month.

Veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who hasn't played T20I cricket in almost a year, is also included in the team. Shakib made an impression by taking four wickets in the fourth match of Bangladesh's final two Twenty20 Internationals against Zimbabwe, earning a spot in the team.

The 15-player Bangladeshi squad for the T20 World Cup did not include any significant surprises; youthful, fast Tanzim Hasan Sakib was selected after making two outings against Zimbabwe.

Left-arm quick Shoriful Islam was also picked by the selectors, despite the 22-year-old being rested for the final two games against Zimbabwe. As backups, Hasan Mahmud and Afif Hossain Dhrubo will go to the competition.

For the competition next month, Bangladesh has been put into Group D with South Africa, Sri Lanka, the Netherlands, and Nepal. Their first match is scheduled for June 7 in Dallas against Sri Lanka.

The National Selection Panel of BCB head, Gazi Ashraf Hossain, stated that the team has decided to hold off on making a decision about Saifuddin until after the Zimbabwe series.

Hossain declared, "We had kept Saifuddin in the squad that we submitted to the ICC on April 30." "We intended to watch and evaluate how he performed during the Zimbabwe series. However, Tanzim (Hasan Sakib) was ahead of Saifuddin when it came to what the team currently needed.

"The two were in a tight spot. Tanzim versus Sri Lanka was witnessed. His perseverance and hunger kept him on top. In addition, he is a superb fielder. The only player that was altered from the team we had previously presented to the ICC was Saifuddin."
