According to a source, former Bangladesh captain Khaled Mahmud resigned on Wednesday as the Director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Mahmud was elected as a director for the first time in 2013 after unseating Gazi Ashraf Hossain. He held the position for three terms in a row. However, owing to changes in the nation's politics, his most recent tenure was shortened. Mahmud's resignation is the result of the political landscape shifting and its effects being felt throughout the BCB. According to Cricbuzz, these adjustments also follow the resignation of former BCB president Nazmul Hassan, which led to more significant changes on the board.
Mahmud made significant contributions to Bangladeshi cricket during his time there. For many years, he oversaw the development of the nation's young talent as the chairman of BCB's game development committee.
In addition to his work as a director, Mahmud frequently served as the team manager and acting head coach of the Bangladesh national cricket team.
Mahmud's departure is a part of a larger board member exodus; Jalal Yunus, Shafiul Alam Chowdhury, and Naimur Rahman are among the other directors quitting.
The 2020 ICC Under-19 World Cup championship of Bangladesh's Under-19 squad was one of his greatest accomplishments as captain.
In addition to his work as a director, Mahmud frequently served as the team manager and acting head coach of the Bangladesh national cricket team.
