India's 15-member Women's T20 World Cup squad
India's 15-member Women's T20 World Cup squad will be led by Harmanpreet, with Asha Sobhana and Shreyanka Patil in
Smriti Mandhana has been selected as Harmanpreet Kaur's deputy. The team's designated wicketkeepers are Richa Ghosh and Yastika Bhatia, with Bhatia's participation contingent on fitness.
From their last Women's Asia Cup campaign in Sri Lanka, India changed just one member of the squad: Bhatia took Uma Chetry's place on the 15-man roster. As one of the three traveling reserves, along with Tanuja Kanwer and Saima Thakor, Chetry has been named instead.
Shafali Verma, the opener, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Dayalan Hemalatha in the top order will fill out India's batting core. Sajana Sajeevan was also selected. All-rounder Deepti Sharma, left-arm spinner Radha Yadav, and leg-spinner Asha Sobhana, who will play in her first World Cup at age 33, will lead the spin department.
All-rounder Shreyanka Patil of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru has also been included in the team. Patil had a finger injury at the recent Asia Cup, from which she is still recovering.
India will keep up their three-pronged seam attack, spearheaded by Arundhati Reddy, Pooja Vastrakar, and Renuka Thakur.
Host Sri Lanka defeated Harmanpreet's team by eight wickets in the final, preventing them from winning a record-tying eighth title. The teams are grouped with Australia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and New Zealand in Group A of the T20 World Cup, and they will face each other once more during that phase.
India's campaign kicks off on October 4 against New Zealand, followed by a major match against Pakistan on October 6 at the Dubai International Stadium.
India had lost to Australia in a terrifying five-run loss in the previous edition's South Africa semi-final. Their finest result came in the 2020 T20 World Cup, which was place in Australia and saw them place second behind the hosts.
