Legendary cricketer Shahid Afridi of Pakistan is thrilled that on Sunday, the American audience will experience cricket's version of the Super Bowl in New York, when Pakistan plays India in a thrilling Twenty20 World Cup match.

ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 ambassador Shahid Afridi was excited about the possibility of an India-Pakistan match in New York during this T20 World Cup.
Afridi compared it to the renowned Super Bowl, saying that the 'biggest cricketing rivalry' will be witnessed at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium by America's cricket-loving audience.

In his ICC editorial, Afridi stated, "For those Americans who are new to the tournament, they should know that Pakistan's game against India is like our Super Bowl." "I genuinely think that India and I have the greatest rivalry in sports, and I used to adore playing against them.

"It means a great deal to both sides because I received so much love and respect from the Indian supporters when I played in those games.

"It's about managing the occasion's pressure against India. Both teams have a ton of skill; all they need to do is put it together on game day."

Afridi thought that the large South Asian expat population would be a fantastic source of love and support for the game, as well as help to foster its continued expansion.
"People in the United States will adore the assistance. There is a fantastic expat community there that has a deep love for cricket.

"And whether it's baseball, basketball, or American football, Americans adore their sports. It's quite exciting for aspiring cricket players that I firmly think cricket will become popular there in the future years."

He did not select a favorite for the India-Pakistan match, but he did believe that the Men in Green will rise beyond their lackluster recent performance and perform at their best during the competition.
"Pakistan have shown in recent ICC Men's T20 World Cups that they are capable of challenging anyone," Afridi stated. "They may not have had the best form in 2024, but I think they have what it takes to succeed in the USA and the West Indies.

The former all-rounder said that Pakistan's triumphant runs in their last two T20 World Cups were an important indicator of how the team improved in crucial situations. In particular, he supported Pakistan's pace attack to be successful in the West Indies and the USA.

"They have advanced to both the final and semi-final of the last two ICC Men's T20 World Cups, and their squad's skill is undeniable. The Caribbean's circumstances will undoubtedly
"There is a ton of skill on the team, especially in the bowling attack, which ought to succeed there. There is so much depth and the fast bowlers are on par with any team in the world."

Afridi thought that sticking with a core group and supporting the regular players would be crucial to Pakistan's success.

"Recent form is not nearly as significant as class. In T20 cricket, we have repeatedly witnessed how the game can shift dramatically in the course of a few overs.
Because the selectors have been trying out young players and given them a chance to show off, part of the reason the results have been a little inconsistent [for Pakistan]

"Choosing the ideal lineup for the World Cup was crucial. When they arrive, I anticipate that they will focus on the powerplay and maintain a high strike rate before putting on further pressure until the 14th over. The finish will be crucial from there."

On June 6, Thursday, Pakistan will play their first Men's T20 World Cup match against co-hosts USA in Dallas.
