Unexpectedly, no player from India's squad for the next T20 World Cup—which begins on June 2 in the USA and the West Indies—will be appearing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) final.
After Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Rajasthan Royals by 36 runs in Qualifier 2, the money-spinning franchise-based league's finalists were determined on Friday. Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad will square off in the grand championship in Chennai tomorrow. In Qualifier 1, Kolkata defeated Sunrisers by eight wickets to advance to the final.
The only player selected for India's reserve team for the T20 mega event is Rinku Singh of Kolkata, while none of the top 15 players chosen for the country's impending T20 World Cup campaign will be competing in Sunday's IPL final.
Two members of India's World Cup squad were on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru club, which was also eliminated from the playoffs. These players were bowler Mohammed Siraj and star batter Virat Kohli.
