In the third and last Twenty20 international of the three-match series against the USA at Grand Prairie Stadium in Houston on Saturday, Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan became the first player in international cricket history to take 700 wickets and amass 14,000 runs with the bat.
To reach the milestone, Shakib, who was one wicket away from reaching 700 international wickets, removed USA opener Andries Gous (27 off 15). He became the 17th player to collect 700 international scalps, surpassing Dale Steyn (699).
When he struck 39 runs off of just 39 balls against Afghanistan in the third One-Day International of the three-match series in Chattogram last year, he had already reached 14,000 international runs.
