At Chennai's Chidambaram Stadium, Kolkata Knight Riders got off to a rousing start in the Indian Premier League 2024 final, dismissing Sunrisers Hyderabad for 113 in 18.3 overs—the lowest total in an IPL final.

The lowest total in an IPL final before this was Chennai Super Kings' 125 for nine against Mumbai Indians in 2013.
Star bowler Mitchell Starc set the tone for Kolkata by dismissing danger man Travis Head in the next over after he fired a ripper to Hyderabad opener Abishek Sharma in the opening over.
The two-time winners kept up the momentum and chipped away at Hyderabad's potent batting order after Starc defeated Rahul Tripathi to get the Hyderabad three down for 21 during the Powerplay.
